Short Bio
Dr. Shambhu Kandel, a distinguished inorganic and analytical chemist, earned his PhD from Florida International University in 2019, where he studied pyrazole coordination properties. He conducted postdoctoral research at FIU’s Applied Research Center (April 2019 – February 2021), focusing on radioactive waste remediation. Following this, Dr. Kandel worked as a research specialist at North Dakota State University (February 2021 – May 2022), designing organosilicon compounds. He then spent over two years at Thermo Fisher Scientific (May 2022 – August 2024), specializing in pharmaceutical method validation.
In addition to his research roles, Dr. Kandel taught various chemistry classes at Miami Dade College and Louisiana State University while holding other positions. He began his role as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in August 2024.
Academic Focus
Dr. Shambhu Kandel’s academic focus encompasses the synthesis of metal complexes and the exploration of their chemical and biological properties. His research also includes investigating the extractable and leachable substances in drug products and containers. In teaching, he specializes in Inorganic Chemistry and various undergraduate chemistry courses. His research and teaching are supported by advanced analytical tools such as GC-MS, GC-FID, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, NMR Spectroscopy, UV-Vis, FT-IR, XRD, Liquid Scintillation Counting, Ion Chromatography, and SEM-EDS.
