INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
While using our website, we ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information includes your email address, name, phone number, and other information that is defined as personal or personally identifiable information under applicable law ("Personal Information").

We collect this information for the purpose of identifying and communicating with you, responding to your inquiries, and improving the website.
You have a right to access your Personal Information and may request that any such data that is factually inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or irrelevant for the purposes of the website be corrected or deleted. If admissible by applicable data privacy laws, the University may limit or deny access to your Personal Information where providing such access would be unreasonable.
LOG DATA
We collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our website ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.
In addition, we may use third-party services that collect, monitor and analyze this type of information in order to increase the website’s functionality. These third-party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.
When you access the website by or through a mobile device, we may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device’s unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, your location information and other statistics.
LOCATION INFORMATION
We may use and store information about your location depending on the permissions you have set on your device. We may use this information to provide features of the website and to improve and customize the website. You can enable or disable location services at any time, through your mobile device settings.

We may also have to disclose your information to third parties such as the courts, local authorities, or law enforcement where legally obliged to do so.
- Vital interests: The University may need to process your personal data to prevent someone from being seriously harmed or injured.
- Public interest: The University believes that it is acting in the public interest when providing students with an education.
SENDING PERSONAL DATA TO OTHER COUNTRIES
Personal Information may also be transferred to countries outside of the United States (“U.S.”), to countries that may not have data protection laws that offer the same protections as the U.S. or the European Economic Area (which means the European Union, Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland). Examples of circumstances when Personal Information may be transferred outside the U.S. include:

- Some of the systems and services the University uses to store data in the cloud which may include storage facilities based outside the U.S.

You can always provide your consent to us again at a later time.
- Right to judicial review: In the event that we refuse a request under rights of access, we will provide you with a reason as to why. Individuals in the EU have the right to complain as outlined in the "Further Information and Guidance" section below.
- Right to Complain. You may have the right to lodge a complaint to an applicable supervisory authority or other regulator if you are not satisfied with our responses to your requests or how we manage your personal information. The University has established a dedicated email address for any questions or concerns you may have about the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union. Please contact compliance@pitt.edu if:
- You object to us using your personal data for marketing purposes, e.g., to send you information about university events. We will stop using your personal data for marketing purposes if you tell us not to.
- You would like us to update the personal data we hold about you.
- You would prefer that certain information is kept confidential.

SECURITY
The security of your Personal Information is important to us, and we strive to implement and maintain commercially reasonable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the information we store, in order to protect it from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure.
The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of the website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.
However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of your Personal Information transmitted to the website. Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the website.
CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13
Our website is not intended for children under the age of 13. No one under age 13 may provide any information to or on the website.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not register on the website, use any of the features of this website or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or user name you may use. We reserve the right to update or change our privacy notice at any time and you should check this Notice periodically. Your continued use of the website after we post any modifications to the Privacy Notice on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified privacy notice.
