Business Management major

Sai Ten talking to an academic coach

Sai struggled when he first got to Pitt-Bradford. The first major he chose was heavily based in the sciences, and he had trouble grasping some of the concepts. He failed calculus. He was placed on academic probation. He didn’t think he was going to make it.

Then he reached out to the free services available in the Academic Success Center, and things began to change. He started in the Mathematics Center, where director Hallie Ware helped him, and he passed calculus.  His next stop was the Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center where center coordinator Bernie Picklo met with him regularly to provide support – and friendship.

Now, Sai is back in good academic standing and so grateful for the support he received.

“People here are open, personable. On a larger campus, you’re pushed through the system and pushed out to get your degree. Here you get more quality time.”
