U.S. News & World Report ranks Pitt-Bradford among best colleges in North

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has been ranked in the Top 20 of four categories by U.S. News & World Report.

The collegiate rankings report, now in its 40th year, ranked Pitt-Bradford #12 in Best Value Schools in the North, a new category. Pitt-Bradford was the top-ranking public college in Pennsylvania in this category.

U.S. News & World Report also ranked Pitt-Bradford:

• #10 in Best Colleges for Veterans in the North
• #13 in Top Regional Public Colleges in the North
• #20 in Overall Top Regional Colleges in the North

The rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality and place an emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.

This is the fifth consecutive year that U.S. News has recognized Pitt-Bradford in its rankings.

“We’re happy and proud that Pitt-Bradford ranked so high in several categories in this year’s U.S. News report,” said Rick Esch, Pitt-Bradford’s president. “We’re especially pleased to be ranked 12th on the Best Value Schools in the North list because we work very hard to make a Pitt-Bradford education and the Pitt degree as affordable as possible for students and their families.”  

In the rankings, Pitt-Bradford was compared to colleges in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges edition used 13 key measures of academic quality for regional colleges, including feedback from other college administrators, six-year graduation rate, financial resources, faculty salaries and graduation rate performance, which is how well the actual graduation rate matches what was predicted, considering factors like low-income households and first-generation college students.

The magazine said it considers regional colleges those that focus on undergraduate education but that grant fewer than 50% of degrees in liberal arts disciplines.

This is the third regional ranking Pitt-Bradford has received recently. Earlier this month, Washington Monthly named the campus one of the top two public college in Pennsylvania on its list of Best Bang for the Buck Schools in the Northeast.

In August, The Princeton Review recognized Pitt-Bradford as one of the Best Regional Colleges in the North for the 21st consecutive year.

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of the undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings offer detailed information of the institutions and data on factors such as outcome measures — including graduation rates, graduate indebtedness and post-graduate earnings.
