Nearly all ASN students taking licensing exam pass

Ninety-five percent of the Associate of Science in Nursing students at University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and its program at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville who took their licensing exam in the last year passed.

Dr. Jean Truman, associate professor of nursing and director of the nursing program, received the news earlier this week that 20 graduates had passed the National Council Licensure Exam for registered nurses, commonly known as the NCLEX-RN.

“We are extremely proud of our graduates and the efforts they have made while enrolled in the Associate of Science in Nursing programs in Bradford and Titusville. Their dedication to becoming safe and competent nurses is commendable. I am confident that they will serve the nursing profession well by providing excellent care to their patients,” Truman said.

Nationally, 86.7% of students who took the NCLEX-RN on the first attempt passed the exam. Those who pass are eligible to become registered nurses.

Nursing graduates from both the Bradford and Titusville campuses are employed in regional health care and beyond, including Warren General Hospital, Meadville Medical Center, UPMC Kane, Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital, Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, Del., Saint Claire Health System in Pittsburgh and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
