The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will celebrate Alumni and Family Weekend Sept. 22-24 with special events that will recognize the university’s 60th anniversary year.

The weekend begins with a lunch and panel discussion moderated by Dr. K. James Evans, retired vice president of student affairs and dean of students and featuring emeritus faculty members Isabelle Champlin, Dr. Patty Bianco and Dr. Richard Frederick and alumna Kaye Huber ’66-’68.
The lunch takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Mukaiyama University Room. The event is free to attend, but reservations are needed. Attire is casual.
Panthers sports fans can grab some new and gently used apparel at the athletics garage sale from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 23 in the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center. Jerseys, shorts, shirts and other athletic gear are available for a recommended donation. Proceeds help Pitt-Bradford athletics.
Those who have yet to visit Pitt-Bradford’s newest academic building, the George B. Duke Engineering and Information Technologies Building, can attend an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students and faculty will be on hand for tours, and visitors can make their own laser engraved card, attend a robot picture workshop or go on a virtual reality adventure.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23, the popular Hanley Library Book Sale will take place at the library. Proceeds go to the Friends of Hanley Library.
Pitt-Bradford students will host kids’ activities during Bradford’s Pumpkin fest from noon to 4 p.m. on Main Street in Bradford.
At 1 p.m. Sept. 23, visitors can watch Panthers volleyball in a tri-meet versus Keuka College and Penn Tech in the KOA Arena of the McDowell Sport and Fitness Center.
Also at 1 p.m., baseball alumni will take on the current Panthers in the annual Alumni Baseball Game at the Kessel Athletic Complex. Pitt-Bradford retiree and fan favorite Donny Johnson will be on hand to throw out the first pitch. To play, register online.
On Saturday evening, the Pitt-Bradford Alumni Association will hold its annual Alumni Awards Dinner and Athletic Hall of Fame Induction. The dinner will honor Hall of Fame inductees Diego Vacaflores ’00 and former men’s and women’s soccer coach Peter Butler; Dr. Michael Klausner, associate professor of sociology, as recipient of the PBAA Teaching Excellence Award; and Rick Weinberg ’94 as recipient of the Denny Lowery Distinguished Volunteer Award.
The dinner is open to the public, but reservations are required. The cost is $25 per person for adults and $12 for children ages 6-12. Children ages 5 and under are free.
Saturday night will finish with a concert by the Young Original Band, a five-piece acoustic band with a passion for breathing new life into classic music. Tickets are $10 and may be bought at upb.pitt.edu/TheArts.
