Dr. Jeffrey Johnson
Degrees and Credentials
Dr. Johnson was trained as a musician, he has degrees in musical composition from Ithaca College (Bachelor of Music), Eastman School of Music (Master of Arts) and Boston University (Doctor of Musical Arts).
Short Bio
Dr. Johnson began his teaching career at The Boys Choir of Harlem during the golden age of that organization. In 1998 he became Professor of Music at the University of Bridgeport where he taught a generation of students. He began his full-time administrative career as assistant provost for student success, and later became associate dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. In 2020, he became Dean of the Insalaco College of Arts & Sciences at Marywood University. He began his work at Pitt-Bradford/Titusville in July 2023.
Research, Accomplishments, and Publications
Dr. Johnson has published four acclaimed books on music theory and performance practice with Greenwood Press and Dover Publications. As a journalist, he wrote hundreds of concert reviews for the Hartford Courant, and has written for the Boston Globe, The Stamford Advocate, and The Greenwich Time. He has been a regular broadcaster on the independent classical music radio station WMNR in Monroe Connecticut since 2015. He produces Evening at the Opera, which airs on Tuesday evenings, and is the regular host of Sunday Morning Classics from 9am, until noon.
