Short Bio
Hirushie received her BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2014. She obtained her PhD in Mechanical Engineering focusing on energy systems planning and decision-making from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada in 2018. She previously worked as a faculty member at the University of Moratuwa and as a postdoctoral research fellow at UBC.
Her main research interest is developing risk-based decision support systems for energy and sustainability applications. She has been engaged in research related to renewable energy and energy planning, building energy efficiency, carbon capturing, energy storage, hydrogen energy; energy economics and policy development, and life cycle thinking.
