The exhibition highlights the traditional and contemporary works of Penelope S. Minner, an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Turtle Clan. Minner’s passion for black ash basketry, a skill taught by her cousin, shines through in her intricate designs that celebrate natural beauty and traditional craftsmanship. Alongside her baskets, Minner also creates cornhusk dolls that blend traditional roles with modern styles. Minner’s pieces are showcased in numerous museums, including the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, Iroquois Indian Museum, Fenimore Museum, New York State Museum and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
