Canoe on the river bank

Allegheny Institute of Natural History River Scholars

This event has been canceled for this year.

This camp is for those who are interested in all aspects of the environment and earth sciences. You’ll canoe down the river each day and investigate, discuss and approach various topics of interest. The group will tent camp along the river and have evening educational activities.

All participants must be able to swim, and canoe experience is preferred. Pack your own tent and personal flotation device if you have them. We will provide an itinerary and packing list two weeks in advance. Participants must comply to all safety guidelines, including wearing a life vest on the water at all times. All meals will be provided from lunch on Sunday through breakfast on Wednesday.

Since this is an “unplugged” experience, there will be limited cell phone service and no access to charging stations.

Campers should bring the following:

  • Water Bottle
